June 10th - June 16th

This week I visited Gangnam Station KBBQ, Somi Somi, Avenue 26 Tacos and Barnsdall Art Park.

Gangnam Station Korean Barbeque

3785 Wilshire Blvd Unit 217, Los Angeles, CA 90010

Meat and side dishes

Gangnam Station (yes, like the song) has been my go-to spot for all you can eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ. Their quality meat, reasonable prices, and extensive menu are qualities that keep me coming back. My favorite meats include the beef belly, galbi marinated pork bulgogi, and spicy pork belly!

Some things to note:

- There is a parking structure available for use, but because its quite hard to find, I have linked its location here
- The entrance to the underground parking lot is to the right of the ramp. Do not drive up the ramp.
- 2 hour validated parking is provided by the restaurant, ask for a validation ticket before you check out!
- It's $25 a person Monday-Friday from 11am - 4pm!
- This restaurant does charge auto gratuity, so don't make the mistake of tipping twice :)

Upside down Ah-Boong with Ube (Taro), Fresh Milk,
Matcha, and Banana Milk soft serve

Somi-Somi is a dessert shop that specializes in a Korean dessert known as “Ah-Boong”, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve. With multiple locations around Los Angeles and Pasadena, they're easily accessible with many flavor options to choose from.

My recommendations include; Taro Taiyaki, Custard Taiyaki, Nutella Taiyaki, Cookie's n Cream & Banana Milk soft serve, Fresh Milk soft serve, Ube soft serve, and Milk Tea/Thai Tea soft serve (limited edition)

Some things to note:

- This particular location is on the 2nd floor of a small shopping center.
- If you park in the parking structure, Somi-Somi validates tickets up to 3 hours.
- Soft serve flavors change often and will vary by location.

Ave 26 Tacos

353 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Chicken and Asada tacos

This taco stand serves some of the best street-style Mexican food in LA! Located on the outskirts of Little Tokyo, Ave 26 Tacos is the place to go for cheap but good-quality food.

Some things to note:

- This stand is open Sunday-Thursday from 4pm-2am and Fridays & Saturdays from 4pm-3am
- There is a free parking lot right next to the stand. If you come in the evening it can be hard to find a spot and you may be better off finding street parking around the area.
- Credit and debit purchases are subject to extra fees

Barnsdall Art Park is home to some spectacular views as well as the Hollyhock House, a Unesco world heritage site, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the greatest American architects of the twentieth century. A gorgeous spot for picnicking and watching the sunset, this park is always a great place to visit!

Some things to note:

- Parking is free, there is a lower and upper lot available for use.
- Tours of the Hollyhock House are by appointment only, you can find admission information here.
- Barnsdall also hosts wine-tasting events every Friday all summer long. You can purchase a ticket here.
- The park is open from 6am-10pm daily, and the Hollyhock House is open Thursday-Saturday from 11am-4pm.
