June 10th - June 16th

This week I visited Gangnam Station KBBQ, Somi Somi, Avenue 26 Tacos and Barnsdall Art Park. Gangnam Station Korean Barbeque 3785 Wilshire Blvd Unit 217, Los Angeles, CA 90010 Meat and side dishes Gangnam Station (yes, like the song) has been my go-to spot for all you can eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ. Their quality meat, reasonable prices, and extensive menu are qualities that keep me coming back. My favorite meats include the beef belly, galbi marinated pork bulgogi, and spicy pork belly! Some things to note: - There is a parking structure available for use, but because its quite hard to find, I have linked its location here .  - The entrance to the underground parking lot is to the right of the ramp. Do not drive up the ramp.  - 2 hour validated parking is provided by the restaurant, ask for a validation ticket before you check out! - It's $25 a person Monday-Friday from 11am - 4pm! - This restaurant does charge auto gratuity, so don't make the mistake of tipping twice :) S...

July 31st - August 6th

This week I visited La Rose Cafe, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and Maccheroni Republic.

La Rose Cafe

4749 Fountain Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90029

Sisig with eggs

La Rose Cafe is found in the heart of Los Angeles and is the hotspot for authentic Filipino cuisine. I've been wanting to try this place, and after sitting in my Yelp collection for over a year, I finally took the time to visit. My friends and I ordered the sisig (pictured above), some calamansi drinks, chicken adobo, as well as an order of halo-halo for dessert.
Sigsig: The food comes out on a sizzling hot plate and is served with rice and your choice of a side (we chose eggs). Flavorful, perfectly fatty, and delicious in all aspects. 10/10
Calamansi Drink: This is one of my all-time favorite beverages and it was delicious here! Because of how hard it is to find, I was so excited to see it on the menu. Perfectly refreshing and not too sweet, the calamansi drink also comes with two free refills. 10/10
Chicken Adobo: The meat was very tender and the flavor was good overall, but it was a little bit too salty for my liking. 8/10
Halo-Halo: A mix of shaved ice, ice cream, flan, jelly, and a variety of tropical fruits, halo-halo still stands as one of my favorite childhood desserts. The portion for this dessert is huge, plan on sharing it with 2-3 other people. 9/10

Some things to note:

- This restaurant specializes in "family style" cuisine, keep in mind that most of their items come in portions large enough to share between a few people.
- Although my friends and I came to dine in on a slow weekday, I'd like to note that the restaurant itself is pretty small so there may be a wait on busier weekends.
- Don't be afraid to try something new! You may never know if you'll find your new favorite food ;)

Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

7662 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620

Our view of the stadium

With only one location in California, Medieval Times located in Buena Park, is a family-friendly themed dinner experience. As a child, I often visited on school trips, and when I attended birthday parties. The show is about an hour and a half in length and includes a full, four-course meal that comes with drinks, garlic bread, tomato bisque, roasted chicken, sweet corn, and a dessert!

Some things to note:

- Alcohol is available for purchase before the show and also during the performance.
- Reservations are required, but with two performances a night, finding availability is not difficult at all.
- Winning knights are already chosen beforehand! Everyone is assigned a random knight to cheer for during the show, coming early or on special occasions will not increase your chance of getting the victor.

Maccheroni Republic

332 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Bone marrow appetizer

Maccheroni Republic has quickly earned the title of my favorite Italian restaurant in LA. Located in the middle of downtown and this eatery has a variety of different options to choose from. I've visited this establishment a total of 3 times now and can say that I have been pleased with the quality of food and my dining experience every time. Here is my personal list of recommendations to try out when visiting for the first time;
Appetizer: Garlic Bread, Bone Marrow (pictured above), Bruschetta di Panzanella, and Burratina con Pomodori Arrostiti.
Main Course: Bianchi & Neri, Rigotoni Pom'Amore, and Linguine ai Frutti di Mare
Dessert: Tiramisu, Mascarpone Flan, Homemade Gelato

Some things to note:

- Close time is 9pm meaning that restaurant staff will NOT seat anyone up to an hour before close. I made this mistake my first time visiting and we were turned away even though it was only 8:15pm.
- Parking is validated, but not fully. $6 is taken off the total price of your ticket if parked in the next-door garage.
- Menus change seasonally, but only a few items are switched out, so don't worry too much about missing out on one of your favorite items.
- All pasta and desserts are made in-house and fresh daily :)
